DIY Lip Scrub and Why I Would Die If I Were Stranded on an Island
"If you were stranded on an island and could only bring one item with you, what would you bring?"
My answer to this classic question is simple every time: lip balm. Yes, it is very impractical. No, this would not aid in my survival, however, without it I would unquestionably lose my sanity. To understand this, you must know that my second biggest pet peeve is chapped lips (coming in right behind disorganized silverware drawers). I carry lip balm on me at ALL times. Having healthy lips is an essential part of being Casey and it takes a little more than lip balm to achieve this.
If you're like me and can't stand the feeling of dry, flaky lips that make you want to scrub them off with sanding sheets or you just want smoother lips, let me fill you in on a little secret: exfoliation. Exfoliating with a great lip scrub is key to eliminating dead skin and having soft, crust-free lips.
One of my favorite lip scrubs is from Lush, which I'm sure you've heard of. If you haven't, it's a store that sells amazing, cruelty-free and handmade cosmetics. The best thing about the scrub is it comes in yummy flavors and is completely edible. Nothing beats smooth lips and the taste of bubble gum, am I right? The worst thing is the semi-steep price of $10.95 but don't fret, it's super simple to make at home. That's why I'm providing you with a do it yourself recipe consisting of things you already have in your house. You're welcome! Make sure to watch my video below for a live action tutorial.
First things first, you'll need to gather the following ingredients and supplies:
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (or your favorite essential/edible oil)
- 3-4 drops vanilla (any other flavoring will work too)
- 1 drop food coloring (optional)
- Bowl to mix ingredients
- Small jar or container for product
After that, simply mix the ingredients in your bowl, put the product into your container and start exfoliating!
I hope you enjoyed this DIY tutorial! What item would you take if you were stranded on an island? Comment below.
See you next post,
Casey
